PROF. DIPL. - DES. HOLGER DEUTER
VIRTUAL DESIGN / REALTIME-ANIMATION / INTERDISCIPLINARY CONCEPTS

Holger Deuter is a creative artist, working in film, digital animation, interdisciplinary art-projects. he has a diploma in communications-design from the university of applied sciences in wiesbaden and a professorship at the university of applied sciences in kaiserslautern in virtual design. once working as a scientist for the filmacademie baden w?rttemberg, he he started exploring realtime-technologies for character-animation and vfx.

"during my science- and development works for the filmakademie baden w?rttemberg in ludwigsburg (germany) i developed skills and became experienced in realtime animation and motion capture. through a zkm-contact margie medlin and i agreed to start the artistic science- and development project called "miss world", a 3-screen- installation which deals with the complex relationships between real and virtual dance and a choreographed motion-control-cam. it was shown between 2002 and 2004 in karlsruhe, tokyo, helsinki, bangalore, cologne.

the new project, called quartet challenges my skills as 3d-artist, realtime-specialist and musician, because it connects all this elements in a new, never-seen way by realtime-technologies in a realtime- performance-context.

i provide the design and technical setup of the virtual realtime-character and define the body setup so that it reflects the artistic ideas of contents and emotions. i also work on the further development of the additional visual contents which interact in realtime and support the ideas of arts like realtime-shaders, particles, cam-movements and cuts which can be controlled by realtime-inputs (sound, gesture, dance etc.).

i am responsoble in 3 main areas of work:

  1. 3d-artist and designer
  2. creative development based on my expierience with realtime-technologies
  3. relational concepts of audiovisual interaction based on my expierience as instrumental-solist in audio-productions"
